The two self-made climate chambers are entirely computer-controlled and enable the manipulation of temperature, moisture, light, gas composition and further enable the application and monitoring of stable isotope enriched gases, such as 13C-enriched CO2. The application of the enriched isotopes can be used for the production of isotopically enriched plant and soil materials that can be used, e.g., for incubation studies in the field and the laboratory. Further, uptake and translocation of different elements can be traced in plant-soil compartments, in independently controlled soil/root and aboveground-biomass compartments, if necessary.
