Our core facilities for the analyses of a variety of organic substance classes include two GC-FID systems equipped with split/splitless and multi-mode inlet systems and flame ionization detectors. These instruments are used for quantification, e.g., of substance classes like free extractable lipids including alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons, fatty acids, alcohols, and terpenoids, as well as bound lipids like suberin-/cutin-monomers and phospholipid fatty acids and lignin monomers. For compound identification and quantification of trace amounts a GC-MSD system is used.
