The university research priority program (URPP) Digital Religion(s) investigates how digitalization transforms religious practices of individuals and institutions within the current social and political conditions.
Topics and contents of the research modules and projects are religious identity and community networks, rituals and worship, pastoral care, education, authority and reputation.
With an interdisciplinary approach, the URPP investigates how religions communicate in hybrid online-offline formats and how they assert their claim to public meaning.
In addition, the URPP addresses legal and ethical questions of transhumanism and artificial intelligence from the perspective of religious values and theological interpretations of human life in terms of their relevance of religion in digital society.
